RUSHING FROM ROME

London stepped up to take over the 1908 Games at the last minute as it become all too apparent that Rome was far from ready to host. Despite the short notice, the event was exceptionally well organised. For the first time a stadium was especially prepared, and swimming events did not take place in the open water.
